April 25, 2015 was a day, when 7.8 magnitude earthquake strike Nepal with epicenter about 80 km northwest of Kathmandu and approximately 34 km east-southeast of Lamjung, at Barpak, Gorkha. So it is also known as the Gorkha Earthquake which is thrust type. The earthquake origin at 11:56 NST. April 25, 2015 was a black day for Nepal.Multiple areas where affected with the earthquake felt in regions outside Nepal notably northern and north-east India, Tibet and Bangladesh. According to the Nepal’s official 8,856 people were dead and more than 21,952 people were injured due to the massive earthquake on April 25, 2015 Thousands of people were become homeless and the entire villages destroyed.

According to the America scientific agency the US Geological Survey. The area where the earthquake strike is one of the earth’s most seismically hazardous regions. Also, the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC) study says that the earthquake’s of April 25, 2015  magnitude to be 8.1 magnitude. Similarly, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) measured 7.8 magnitude. The area suffered several aftershocks with one on April 26 reaching a magnitude of 6.7. The south Asian country hadn’t been hit by such a potent natural disaster since the 1934 Nepal Bihar earthquake.

April 25, 2015 Nepal’s Earthquake destroyed many historic buildings including several UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as the Kathmandu Durbar Square and the Dharahara Tower.  Manakamana Temple in Gorkhar, Janaki Mandir in Janakpur, Panchtale temple, the top levels of the nine-story Basantapur Durbar and much more historical temples were damaged by the April 25, 2015 Earthquake. There have also been numerous aftershocks about more than 330 leading to small avalanches, further damage and widespread panic among the Nepalese. Unfortunately, landslides have made it impossible for aid workers or the government’s Armed Forces to reach affected area. Accounts of complete destruction have reached the outside world through first-hand accounts from villagers who are outside the destruction zone when the earthquake occurred. As well as those who were air-lifted to nearby hospitals. The US Geological Survey estimates the recovery efforts will cost over five billion dollars which is more than a quarter of the country’s gross domestic product.

Within a week after April 25, 2015, many hard-hit rural areas hadn’t reached because they are extremely isolated. Rescue efforts continued for days as search parties attempted to find the missing among the rubble. The earthquake sparked an avalanche on Mount Everest making it the deadliest day on the mountain with the highest number of fatalities to date. Some climbers were airlifted by helicopter of Everest but many remained for several days. According to state officials, 90 % Nepal’s troops were involved in search-and rescue operation across the country.
